How-to: Create a TeamSpeak 3 Server using a Windows VPS

Guide: Installing a TeamSpeak Server on a Windows VPS

To establish a TeamSpeak server on your Windows VPS, follow these steps:

Step 1: Access Your Windows VPS
- Connect to your Windows VPS through Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or VNC.

Step 2: Download TeamSpeak Server Files
- Visit the TeamSpeak website (https://www.teamspeak.com/) and proceed to the "Downloads" section.
- Download the latest TeamSpeak 3 server for Windows.

Step 3: Extract the Server Files
- After downloading, extract the contents of the ZIP file to a location on your VPS (e.g., "C:\TS3Server").

Step 4: Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (if needed)
- If the server requires a specific Visual C++ Redistributable, obtain it from the official Microsoft website.

Step 5: Start the TeamSpeak Server
- Navigate to the directory where you extracted the server files.
- Launch "ts3server_win64.exe" (for 64-bit) or "ts3server_win32.exe" (for 32-bit).

Step 6: Accept the License Agreement
- Upon the first run, accept the TeamSpeak server's license agreement.

Step 7: Retrieve the Privilege Key
- In the server console or log, find the privilege key, which appears as follows:
------------------------------------------------------------------
Server Query Admin Account created
loginname= "serveradmin", password= "your_privilege_key"
------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 8: Connect to Your TeamSpeak Server
- Install the TeamSpeak client on your local computer, which you can obtain from the TeamSpeak website.
- Launch the client and enter your VPS's IP address or domain in the "Server Address" field.
- Utilize the privilege key obtained in Step 7 for server admin access.

Step 9: Configure and Administer Your Server
- With the TeamSpeak server operational, use the client to set up channels, manage users, and customize server settings.

Remember to regularly update your TeamSpeak server and the operating system with security patches to maintain a stable and secure environment.

Please note that the installation process may vary depending on your VPS provider and the TeamSpeak version. Always refer to the official TeamSpeak documentation for the most up-to-date installation instructions.
